Michael Jünemann

As co-head of the global Finance & Financial Regulation practice groups and head of the German F&FR practice group, I advise in the areas of national and international finance and capital markets law as well as commercial and corporate law. I am also a member of the international steering group of our financial services sector group. I have in-depth expertise in all areas of banking regulatory law and its interrelationship with digitalisation. I advise my clients on all regulatory aspects in connection with all types of FinTech, including new and disruptive technologies such as blockchain and distributed ledgers. In addition to general lending, my areas of expertise range from distressed investments, leverage buyouts and project finance to loan portfolio transfers. I also advise on the management of loans and investments in companies and on capital market transactions. I have particular expertise in the area of LMA-based and other structured loans. I also advise investors in the area of private equity and growth capital as well as refinancing and recapitalisation (venture capital financing, venture lending) with a focus on FinTech.

Anja Holtermann

As an associate in the energy and utilities team in Düsseldorf, I advise and represent international clients in energy, regulatory and environmental law matters. My work is focused on advising clients in all matters concerning infrastructure, energy and regulatory law, administrative law and European law. I represent clients in planning permit procedures for extra-high-voltage lines, pipelines and other industrial infrastructure. I put a special focus on the legal challenges and changes in the regulatory framework that digitalisation brings to the energy sector. Part of my work is advising international clients on all aspects related to the generation of conventional and renewable energy, including the applicable European legislation. Building upon my experience as a lawyer in the arbitration and litigation practice group of an international law firm, I represent clients before national courts as well as in arbitration proceedings.

Workshop Format

Following on from the previous roundtable discussing synergetic infrastructure expansion by means of heat transition in residential and commercial areas, our roundtable is designed to specifically target questions of the financing in this subject area. The roundtable is designed as an interactive workshop with an absolute maximum of 20 participants. This exclusive one hour format allows having a major focus on active participation and integration of each participant. To ensure this opportunity, presentations are only allowed to support the workshop discussion. Chatham House rules that apply for the entire Di² Summit secure the high-level trustful environment for this roundtable and open communication. In this save setting we aim to provide information on optimized funding options for Cross grid Expansion for companies in the district heating network, the fiber optic network and the electricity grid.

Workshop Content

The table of contents of our exclusive roundtable composed by not more than 20 participants encompasses the discussing of optimal funding programs at national and European levels, as well as the compatibility across these levels. Core topic shall be the possible funding arrangements in this area. Here, we will have a focus in our discussion with regards to adjusted capital requirements for credit institutions longing for the expansion of the grid.. Moreover we will focus on regulatory requirements to reduce and reuse excess heat and the opportunities in the context of municipal heat planning.
